Kabale University donates 300 bags of cement to Christ the King Church, Kabale

KAB University has donated 300 bags of cement and over 9 million Uganda shillings to Christ the King Parish in Kabale district in a drive to construct a dormitory for needy girls at Christ the King Town View Secondary School in Rutooma, Kabale Municipality.

The donation was made during a mass led by the Vicar General, Msgr Dr. John Vianney Sunday at Christ the King parish on Sunday. The believers were celebrating the Sunday of Jesus Christ as the good Shepherd who loves and cares for his people. The mass was also aimed at praying for the vocations of priesthood, holy matrimony and religion.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration, Ms. Anny Katabaazi who represented the Vice Chancellor, commended the church for promoting spiritual growth among the students and staff. “I would like to thank you for giving us a Chaplain, Fr. Tophilli Owembabazi who touches spiritually the souls of our students and staff. It becomes easy for us to touch the minds of students through education when they are spiritually impacted”, she added.

Ms. Katabaazi further noted that though the University is a public university, it is also a community university that seeks to be relevant in the community it is operating in. “That is why we have all come to celebrate with you, but also do community service through the School of Medicine which has camped outside the church to give medical support to the congregation after the service”, she noted.

The Guild President, Mr. Drake Owoyesigire who represented the students appreciated the church for thinking about the girl-child by spearheading the fundraising to construct a girls’ dormitory at the school.

The main celebrant, Msgr Dr. John Vianney Sunday asked believers to accept the risen Christ Jesus to be their God and Savior. He reminded them that Christ is the good shepherd and he is the one that helps everyone in their vocations. “Let us call upon Christ to make us live according to the promises we made in our various vocations. We pray that God gives us making the right choices in life”, he added.

Msgr Dr. Vianney also reminded believers to continue fighting the vice of homosexuality because it is sin against God. He noted that the church recognizes marriage as a covenant between a man and woman who are sanctified to live together for their own good, for procreation and for education of their children. “In homosexuality, there is no procreation, no good and so we speak against it strongly. I pray for you that God will strengthen you in the calling of you marriage vocation, to build strong marriages and to please God”, he said.

The mass was led by the St. Justin Chapel of KAB University and the Sacred Heart choir sang during the service. The donations were spearheaded by the University Secretary, Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono  and were directed towards the construction of a dormitory for needy girls at Christ the King Town View Girls’ Secondary School in Rutooma, Kabale Municipality.

Thanks alot to KAB university management for reaching out the community to give support to the masses.

    However,

This post needs alot of editing. For example, in the catholic church, a priest leads “Mass” not “service”. The choir do not “lead” but they “animate” Mass ……….
