The Director of the Institute of Language Studies, Dr David Majariwa and Dr Abbas Mugisha, a lecturer of Political Science in the Department of Governance have been approved to participate in the  Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) staff mobility programme. The two will be participating between 27th March and 26th July 2023.

Dr Majariwa will be hosted by the Department of Linguistics, Languages and Literature at South Eastern Kenya University while Dr Mugisha will be hosted by Department of Political Science, Conflict and Peace Studies at Zanzibar University in the United Republic of Tanzania. They will both participate physically at the host Universities

Dr. Majariwa says that the opportunity is an avenue for academic and research collaboration with regional universities, appreciating diversity in knowledge perspectives and gaining life experience in a new environment.  “My fellow members of staff should seek to participate in the IUCEA exchange program because they gain teaching and research experiences and it can be possible for all since one can choose to participate either physically or virtually”, he added. Dr. Majariwa further notes that KAB subscribes annually to IUCEA and thus calls upon members to utilize the opportunity to join.

Dr. Mugisha says this is a new challenge and a great opportunity for him to grow in his career. He further calls upon other members of staff to find information about the staff mobility programme so that they can also participate.
