KAB Newsletter Issue 10 (July 2025 - August 2026)

Kabale University proudly presents Issue 10 of its official newsletter, newly rebranded as The KAB Chronicles. This special bumper edition captures a remarkable chapter in the University’s journey, bringing together stories of transformational leadership, institutional growth, academic excellence, innovation, research and community impact.

At the heart of this edition is a special tribute to Prof. Joy C. Kwesiga, celebrating her 21 years of transformative leadership and the remarkable journey that saw Kabale University grow from a private community-founded institution into an established public university. The publication reflects on her enduring legacy, leadership philosophy, mentorship and contribution to shaping the institution we know today.

Readers will also explore major milestones that demonstrate the University’s continued growth and expanding influence, including the installation of Hon. Canon Matthew Rukikaire as the 2nd Chancellor, Kabale University’s rise to 4th place nationally in the July 2026 Webometrics Rankings, and its growing footprint in research, technology and innovation.

The edition highlights the University’s selection to host Uganda’s National Artificial Intelligence Node under the East African Regional AI Network (AI4EAC), as well as the launch of the MTN Spark Hub, an 80-computer regional innovation facility designed to advance digital skills, entrepreneurship, research and opportunities for young people across the Kigezi Region.

Beyond these milestones, The KAB Chronicles showcases achievements in student innovation, medical competitions, legal education, international collaboration and community engagement, alongside research addressing important societal and environmental challenges, including wetland conservation and migration. It also features compelling profiles and stories of individuals whose contributions have influenced Kabale University and the wider Kigezi community.
