Ruforum’s Prof. Adipala Ekwamu visits Kabale University
Prof. Adipala Ekwamu, the Executive Secretary of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) visited Kabale University on the 15th of July 2022. He was received by some members of the University Management led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Prof. Benon Basheka.
In his speech, Prof. Ekwamu said, his visit to the university was both personal and official adding that the main reason he visited was to acquaint himself with developments in the university and also check on the progress of the RUFORUM initiatives. Ekwamu also mentioned that his visit was to give him an opportunity to thank the University for the support to RUFORUM as he ends his term of office in December 2022.
The other reason Prof. Adipala was also interested in knowing the University’s graduate training programs. He, therefore, called upon the University to make use of the graduate training programs saying that it is important in strengthening its visibility.
He emphasised the issue of staff development as key in the development of human resource capacity. In his words: “You need to spend time building staff capacity”. Adipala also called on the university to actively participate in the RUFORUM programs such as research to mention to grow the University.
Prof. Adipala’s visit to the university was a good and memorable one since he hasn’t been to the southwestern part of Uganda, particularly Kabale. During his visit, he was able to tour the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences farm at the University, the agriculture yogurt production plant at the University, the multimedia studio which is still under construction, and the new computer laboratory.
The University Senior eLearning Officer Robert Tumusiime gave a presentation on the Status of eLearning at Kabale University where among other things he talked about the infrastructure and the ongoing Digital education projects. He gave an overview of the process at Kabale University.
Prof. Bamwerinde Wilson the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science also gave a brief presentation about what the faculty are involved in.
