Kabale University Launches Inaugural Innovations Pitching Event to Advance High-Impact Research and Societal Solutions
The Directorate of Research and Grants, on behalf of Kabale University, successfully conducted the University’s first Innovations Pitching Event on 20th February 2026 at the Mutebire Resource Center.
The event followed a call for proposals issued under the Kabale University Research and Innovations Fund, KABRIF, for the Financial Year 2025/2026. In line with the University’s commitment to promoting research excellence and community transformation, Kabale University strategically allocated part of the internal Kabale University Funds for Research and Innovations, KAB-FIR, to support the development of innovations with strong potential for positive societal impact.
To ensure value for investment and sustainability, the University established a rigorous and transparent selection process. This process was designed to solicit high quality ideas from across various faculties and to carefully sift proposals, retaining only projects that are fundable, feasible, impactful and scalable.
A total of thirteen projects were shortlisted and presented during the pitching session. The innovations were evaluated by a panel of three external judges with expertise in science, innovation, and business incubation. Their independent assessment provided a professional and objective review of the proposed projects, focusing on originality, viability, scalability, and potential community impact.
The Innovations Pitching Event marks a significant milestone in strengthening Kabale University’s research and innovation ecosystem. It reflects the institution’s strategic direction of translating academic research into practical solutions that address societal challenges and contribute to national development.
Further updates regarding the selected projects and funding outcomes will be communicated in due course.
