We Share Solar Donates Batteries to Kabale University to Advance Practical Training in Renewable Energy
Kabale University has received a significant boost in its efforts to enhance hands-on education in renewable energy, thanks to a generous donation from We Share Solar. The organization, an educational initiative of We Care Solar, has gifted the university 20 Victron 12V/8Ah AGM Deep Cycle Batteries. These state-of-the-art batteries are designed to store energy from solar panels, enabling continuous lighting and other applications even at night.
The donation is a testament to We Share Solar’s commitment to fostering equitable access to quality education in underserved communities through sustainable energy solutions. By equipping Kabale University with these resources, the organization is directly empowering students in the Department of Electrical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Technology, Applied Design, and Fine Art with the tools they need to excel in practical training.
A formal handover ceremony marked this transformative occasion, bringing together representatives from Kabale University, We Share Solar and the Faculty of Engineering. Representing the university management was the Deputy Academic Registrar, Canon Benon Freddie Kwikiriza, who commended the donors for their vital contribution to education.
The Faculty of Engineering team, led by Dr. Cartland Richard, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, included Ms. Meron Tusiime and two students, highlighting the collaborative effort to ensure students benefit from this donation.
From We Share Solar, Mr. Caleb Turyamutunga and Mr. Mabare Sabiiti represented the organization, emphasizing their dedication to advancing education and sustainable energy in Uganda and beyond.
The donated batteries are a valuable resource for the Electrical Engineering programme. They will serve as training tools in student projects, enabling learners to develop practical skills in energy storage systems, a critical component of solar energy solutions. This hands-on experience is integral to preparing students for real-world challenges in renewable energy technologies.
Canon Kwikiriza praised the initiative, saying, “This donation from We Share Solar not only supports Kabale University’s mission to provide quality education but also inspires our students to explore innovative solutions to energy challenges.”
Dr. Cartland Richard added, “These batteries will be instrumental in transforming theoretical lessons into tangible skills. We are immensely grateful to We Share Solar for their generosity.”
Kabale University extends its heartfelt appreciation to We Share Solar for their unwavering support and dedication to education and sustainability. This partnership reflects the shared vision of empowering communities through innovative and practical approaches to learning.
With this donation, Kabale University is taking a significant step toward becoming a leader in renewable energy education, setting a standard for integrating sustainable technologies into academic training in Uganda.
