Kabale University Secures 2–0 Victory Over Bishop Stuart University in Pepsi University Football League
Kabale University registered an impressive 2–0 victory over Bishop Stuart University in the Pepsi University Football League (UFL) during a thrilling encounter held on Wednesday, 4th March 2026 at Almadina Stadium.
The home side delivered a disciplined and determined performance, scoring twice to secure an important win in the competition and strengthen their position in the group stages.
Kabale University opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Owonyu Michael Aturinda, who calmly finished a well–constructed attack after receiving an assist from Tayebwa Paddy. The early goal energized the Kabale University side and gave them confidence as they maintained pressure on their opponents.
Just before halftime, Kabale University doubled their lead when Onyango Marvin found the back of the net in the 45th minute. The goal came from a well-timed build-up play, with Owonyu Michael returning the favour by providing the assist that sealed a comfortable lead for the hosts.
Throughout the match, Kabale University displayed strong teamwork, tactical discipline, and attacking intent, effectively managing the game despite Bishop Stuart University’s attempts to mount a comeback.
At the end of the encounter, Kabale University recorded one yellow card, issued to Kisakye Maido Jonathan, while Bishop Stuart University had three players cautioned, namely Mwebesa Victor, Ayesiga Arode, and Sabiiti Vianney.
Speaking after the match, Head Coach Denis Tushabe expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting that the victory marks an important milestone as Kabale University pursues qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition.
Team Captain Martin Bless also commended the players for their commitment and preparation, revealing that the squad had undergone more than four weeks of intensive training ahead of the fixture. He credited the victory to the dedication of the players, support from the coaching staff, and the motivation provided by the fans.
On the opposing side, Bishop Stuart University Head Coach Otamwebwa Brave acknowledged that the match was competitive but expressed disappointment after a goal by Atamba Amans in the first half was disallowed. Despite the loss, he remained optimistic about his team’s chances of progressing in the competition.
Following this victory, Kabale University has now accumulated five points in the group stage standings. The team will next face the International University of East Africa later this month in an away fixture, where they will aim to secure another positive result to strengthen their prospects of reaching the quarter-finals.
