KABSOM Strengthens Medical Education with Equipment Donation and Simulation Laboratory Project from Health Volunteers Overseas

The donation builds on a longstanding partnership between Kabale University and Health Volunteers Overseas that has spanned more than three years. Through this collaboration, the two institutions continue to explore opportunities to improve medical education and strengthen the practical competencies of future healthcare professionals.

The newly donated anesthesia and IT equipment will support hands-on training, enabling students to gain practical experience with relevant medical equipment and technology as they prepare for clinical practice.IMG_8739

Beyond the equipment donation, HVO and KABSOM are working together to establish a dedicated medical simulation laboratory. The planned facility will provide a controlled learning environment where medical students can practice clinical procedures, develop technical skills and build confidence before applying their knowledge in real patient-care settings.

Simulation-based learning is an important component of medical education, as it allows students to practice essential procedures, strengthen clinical decision-making and improve preparedness for professional practice while prioritizing patient safety.IMG_8743

The partnership reflects the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and international health organizations in strengthening healthcare training, expanding access to practical learning opportunities and preparing competent healthcare professionals.

Through continued collaboration with HVO, KABSOM seeks to strengthen its clinical training environment and contribute to improved healthcare education and service delivery in Uganda and the wider region.IMG_8730
