Research Projects and Innovations Workshop

On 20th February 2019, the Faculty of Engineering, Technology, Applied Design and Fine Art held a Workshop on Research, Projects and Innovations for 2nd and 3rd year students. The event took place at Nyabikoni Campus and aimed at invigorating and accelerating research, projects and innovations.

The Workshop was officially opened by Professor Allen Babugura, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Finance and Administration). In his Key Note address, he appreciated and applauded the Faculty administration for the initiative and relevancy of the workshop. He encouraged students to embrace research and innovations, as it is the best way to grow both academically and mentally.

The Guest Speaker, Ms. Sarah Rukundo, the Senior Registration Officer, Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), introduced the audience to patents, copyrights and intellectual properties and the related opportunities.

Various speakers took turns to explain the Research Process, Engineering Design, Problem Identification, Writing Research/Project proposals among others.

Paul Wanjoli, the Workshop Organiser, appreciated the University Management for facilitating the Workshop and informed the Audience of the new plans to establish a Technology and Innovations Support Centre (TISC) at Nyabikoni Campus in conjunction with Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).

The Dean of the Faculty thanked the Guest Speaker, the organisers, and the speakers and tasked the audience to go put to practice the ideas shared.
