The Academic Registrar, Kabale University, invites applications for admission to the following postgraduate programmes for April Intake, 2020/2021 Academic Year. The deadline for receiving applications is 30th March 2021. A detailed application procedure is provided after the table below.

FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES (FEMS)
Background and Rationale

Increased competition in the business, industry and management sectors calls for development of a strong human capital equipped with competences to deal with global trends in business and industry.  The PhD program in Business Administration of Kabale University aims to develop a student’s intellectual ability, executive personality, as well as imparting of critical and analytical skills for effective assessment of the global environment. In this program, the student is exposed to various themes in global business, Entrepreneurship Development, Public Sector and Strategic Management, Economics, Development studies, Foreign Direct Investment, Procurement, Supply chain management, Hospitality and Tourism, as well as Strategic Management, Business Administration, Finance, Entrepreneurship and Innovations, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Accounting &Finance. The Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences (FEMS) offers two PhD tracks namely:

·       PhD in Business Administration by Research

·       PhD in Business Administration by Coursework and Thesis

Admission Criteria
1 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration (By Research only) Weekend At least a Master’s degree from a recognized university or institution of higher learning in a field relevant to Business Administration and General Management; plus a concept note of the intended research area relevant to Business Administration, a Curriculum Vitae summary and three recommendation letters signed by two academics at PhD level and one professional referee. The entire Concept Paper should be at least 2 pages and not be more than 10 pages, double-spaced.

Background and Rationale

The PhD in Public Administration and Management will be the highest academic degree awarded in the study of public administration, Governance, management and administrative sciences at Kabale University. The degree is designed for those seeking academic research and teaching careers as faculty or professors in the study of governance, public administration, management and administrative sectors within Universities but also as professional career managers and administrators for a wide range of organizational contexts. Administration and Management systems are the blood of effective organizations. Yet, there is scarcity of trained experts and practitioners at doctoral level with skills, competences and appropriate attitudes to address the management and administrative issues in practical contexts within the dictates of the 21st century demands. The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) offers two PhD tracks namely:

·      PhD in Public Administration and Management by Research only

·      PhD in Public Administration and Management by Coursework and Thesis

Applicants shall:

  • Pay a non-refundable application fee of Shs. 50,000/= at any bank using a ZEEPAY Reference number generated from AIMS.
  • For applicants who can obtain a physical application form:
    • Complete the form and attach photocopies of academic documents to the completed application form
    • Return the application to any of the following collection points:
    • Kabale University Liaison Office, 3rd Floor, REEV House, Bombo Rd, Opposite GAPCO Service Station, Wandegeya, Kampala
    • Kabale University Office, Rukungiri District Education Office, Rukungiri Municipality
    • Kabale University, Kikungiri Campus, Kabale Municipality
  • For applicants who cannot obtain forms and/or deliver the applications physically:
    Download the application form from www.kab.ac.ug (under Students: application forms), complete the form, scan it along with your academic documents and e-mail the scanned copies to admissions@kab.ac.ug (the scanned documents must be in a single Portable Document Format [PDF] file), or post the application to the Academic Registrar, Kabale University, P.O. Box 317, Kabale, Uganda.
  • Please NOTE that applicants with qualifications from countries other than Uganda must submit copies of equated academic documents from the Uganda National Council for Higher Education.

For applicants who can apply Online:

  • Open any browser (e.g.: Mozilla firefox, google chrome) – in the address/search bar, type: admissions.kab.ac.ug and search
  • Click Sign up to create an application account (i.e.: set a username and password)
  • Thereafter, log in and click Apply now
  • Scroll through to choose the Entry Scheme and click Apply now again
  • After filling in the online form, click Submit
  • To pay application fee, click Pay for Form to generate the Zeepay Reference Number. Present the Zeepay number to any bank or bank agent and pay 50,000= plus a bank charge. You are advised to visit a Mobile Money outlet if you wish to use Momo-pay
  • After the online application, print the online form, attach certified copies of academic and professional credentials, and deliver/send them to any of the university offices. If you cannot send/deliver them, scan the form along with UCE results slip, UACE Results slip, Diploma Transcript, and application fee deposit slip, and send to admissions@kab.ac.ug .
