Directorate of Quality Assurance Launches Comprehensive Tracer Study to Enhance Higher Education Outcomes

The University secretary Can. Johnson Baryantuma Munono has implored staff members to make data-driven decisions about the university programs leading to improved education quality.

He said this today while officiating the tracer study training organized by the Directorate of Quality Assurance in the University Boardroom

“The tracer study is to help us identify and fix the gaps we have in our service delivery, therefore, We must track and see what we are doing. As people that have and are still releasing results, we need to test and know what we are doing.” – Can. Johnson Munono

This study is organised in an effort to elevate the standards of higher education and tailor academic programs to better meet the needs of students and the job market.

The tracer study workshop aims to provide valuable insights and practical skills in conducting high-quality, reliable and evidence-based tracer studies.

According to Ms. Monica Karungi the Senior Quality Assurance Officer at Kabale University, it is one of the requirements of National Council for Higher Education that the University gets feedback from its graduate students.

“We are training them because we want to enroll in a vigorous Faculty tracer study. So, we want to trainees to be the ones training other members at the Faculty level. “– Ms. Monica Karungi

The training was facilitated by Dr. Sarah Kizza Nkambwe Director of Quality Assurance at Uganda Christian University, Mukono and saw Assistant Academic Registrars, Administrative Officers, and Academic staff representatives from different faculties in attendance.

The comprehensive tracer study involves Data Collection mainly information on graduates’ employment status, career paths, further education, job satisfaction, and Employer Feedback where more light will be shed light on the performance and preparedness of graduates as perceived by employers.

The Directorate of Quality Assurance is expected to release periodic updates and reports on the progress of the tracer study and the results are anticipated to influence policy decisions, curriculum development, and program enhancements at Kabale University.

This groundbreaking initiative signifies a significant step towards ensuring the continuous enhancement of Kabale University and its services.
