Kabale University Enhances Hospitality Education Through Professional Training by PUM Netherlands Experts
Kabale University has launched a specialized professional development programme aimed at elevating the quality of hospitality education offered through the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality. The week-long training, facilitated by Mr Johan Spape and Mr Berend Heringa from the PUM Netherlands Dutch Expert Program, is equipping academic staff with modern, hands-on instructional techniques aligned with global industry standards.
The training focuses on strengthening practical teaching approaches that enhance student engagement and improve the delivery of hospitality-related courses. It emphasizes experiential and competency-based learning, reflecting Kabale University’s ongoing commitment to producing graduates who are well prepared for the dynamic demands of the tourism and hospitality sector.
While addressing participants during the opening session, the Chief of the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, Dr. Christine Ampumuza highlighted the importance of the programme, noting that it comes at a pivotal time as the University advances competency-based education and builds stronger linkages with the industry. She emphasized that the skills gained will enrich teaching methodologies and provide students with more impactful, practice-oriented learning experiences.
Mr Johan and Mr Berend, both seasoned experts with extensive international experience in the hospitality field, applauded the University’s dedication to practical instruction. They underscored that effective hospitality education thrives on a blend of theory and interactive, real-world practice delivered by well-equipped instructors.
