Kabale University Students Orientated Ahead of Ultimate University Quiz Season 4
KABALE – Kabale University students have been oriented ahead of the Ultimate University Quiz Season 4, with university officials encouraging them to leverage the competition to broaden their knowledge, build confidence, and foster teamwork skills.
The orientation session took place on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the New Education Faculty Facilities (Room Two). The event brought together representatives from key partner institutions, including New Vision, Bank of Uganda, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), and the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
Speaking on behalf of the university administration, Associate Professor Mesharch Katusiimeh welcomed the partners and commended their investment in student development. He emphasized that cross-sector collaborations between academia, public bodies, and media organizations are vital for shaping knowledgeable and civic-minded citizens.
Prof. Katusiimeh urged students to look beyond formal coursework and engage actively in extracurricular intellectual activities. “A university education should not only prepare students to pass examinations,” Katusiimeh noted, advising students to read widely, follow current affairs, and understand the core mandates of public bodies like URA, UCC, and the Bank of Uganda. He also cautioned students against excessive social media use at the expense of gaining constructive knowledge.
Reaffirming the university’s commitment to the quiz team, Prof. Katusiimeh said the core goal goes beyond winning the trophy. “Our interest goes beyond winning this competition… We want you to experience the world,” he remarked, urging students to join university clubs and hone leadership and community engagement skills.
Joining the call, Kabale University Guild President H.E. Justus Drake Kyarikunda urged the student body to maximize the opportunity to gain practical insights from visiting public officials. Highlighting Kabale University’s strong legacy in quiz competitions, Kyarikunda expressed optimism for an outstanding performance in the upcoming contest.
The orientation follows the university’s internal inter-faculty quiz competition held on August 29, 2026.
The Kabale University School of Medicine (KABSOM) emerged victorious, successfully retaining their title. The Faculty of Education placed second, followed by Journalism and Mass Communication in third, and the Faculty of Engineering in fourth.
With the internal selection complete, expectations are high as Kabale University prepares to field its team against competing universities nationwide.
