The KAB Chronicles Issue 10 is Out: Celebrating Legacy, Innovation and Institutional Growth

Kabale University is pleased to announce the release of Issue 10 of its official newsletter, newly rebranded as The KAB Chronicles. Covering July 2025 to August 2026, this special bumper edition brings together some of the most significant stories, achievements and milestones that have shaped the University during this remarkable period.

At the heart of Issue 10 is a special feature celebrating the 21-year transformational leadership and legacy of outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joy C. Kwesiga. The edition reflects on her stewardship and the University’s remarkable journey from a private community-founded institution to an established public university.

The publication also captures major institutional milestones, including the installation of Hon. Canon Matthew Rukikaire as the 2nd Chancellor of Kabale University, opening a new chapter in the University’s leadership and governance.

Another highlight is Kabale University’s impressive rise in the July 2026 Webometrics University Rankings, attaining 4th position in Uganda, 109th in Africa and 4,310th globally, representing the University’s highest position within the period documented in the publication.

Readers will discover how Kabale University continues to strengthen its position as a centre for research, innovation and practical problem-solving. The edition features the University’s selection to host Uganda’s National Artificial Intelligence Node under the East African Regional AI Network (AI4EAC), with a focus that includes smart agriculture and climate-change mitigation for smallholder farmers.

It also explores the launch of the MTN Spark Hub at Kabale University, an 80-computer innovation facility established to promote digital skills, entrepreneurship, mentorship, research and industry collaboration while creating opportunities for young people across the Kigezi Region.

Across its pages, The KAB Chronicles presents stories spanning research and innovation, student achievements, legal education, international partnerships, community engagement and environmental conservation. Featured stories include the University’s participation in innovation competitions, the arrival of Nigerian Technical Aid Corps experts and research under the SEBU Project advocating stronger protection for Uganda’s highland wetlands.

More than a collection of news stories, Issue 10 serves as a record of Kabale University’s evolving institutional story, celebrating the people, partnerships and ideas contributing to its growing national, regional and international profile.
