Kabale University hosts Masters of Non Profit/NGO Management students from Regis University, Denver, Colorado, United States of America

The Department of Social Work, Social Administration and Governance Kabale University, on Monday,13th November, 2017 hosted University students from Regis University Denver, Colorado: Masters of Non Profit/Ngo Management, United State of America. The purpose of their visit was to foster socio-academic interaction and intellectual engagement between both Universities.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance and Administration, Prof. Allen Babugura who was acting as the Vice Chancellor welcomed the students to Kabale University. In his remarks, he thanked the students and the team leader for the interest they had shown in Kabale University, particularly the Department of Social Work, Social Administration and Governance for this socio-academic interaction. He also informed the guests about the history of Kabale University since it was established. He said, the University is in transition period from a private to a public one and hoped the University would grow into a very big one in the near future. He gave his blessings to the continuation of the programme of the bi-lateral relations.

The acting Vice Chancellor then introduced our new University Bursar to the visiting students. The University Bursar was engaged by the visiting students on some clarification on what criteria is used for students to obtain government sponsorship and he said it was based on individual academic performance of student and government’s priority academic disciplines.

The Head of Department, Mr.Adebayo Tajudeen Sanni gave the welcome speech which he called: “The socio-academic interaction”. He provided the overview of the history of the Department and also talked about bi-lateral academic relations that could be exploited in the area of students’ and staff exchange programmes in the near future. He said, this programme would not have been possible without the Kabale University Vice Chancellor, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, who foresee the importance of socio-academic interaction.

He finally wished them a fruitful day of interaction and beneficial ideas and also that they have a pleasant stay in Uganda. The interactions among both Universities immediately started and the Regis University students engaged the Department of Social Work, Social Administration and Governance students in series of questions on NGOs and Social Development in Uganda. The interaction lasted for 45 minutes. The visiting students were also taken around Kabale University campus. After that, the Team leader Dr. M.D. Kinoti expressed his appreciation to members of academic staff for hosting them.
