Kabale University Plays host to Guest Scholars from Nigeria
On the 6th of July, the Vice-chancellor Prof. Joy Kwesiga on behalf of Kabale University received a group of six TAC volunteers from Nigeria. The volunteers who will be in Kabale for two years will serve as Full Academic Staff and be placed in the Faculties of Agriculture and Engineering.
While giving her remarks, she welcomed the volunteers and said that the university has so far had 3 sets of volunteers from Nigeria at different intervals and they have always been so helpful to the institution.
She emphasized that the Volunteers must be good Ambassadors of Nigeria and that the entire KAB team looks forward to working with them. At the same event, the VC mentioned that the university is expecting more volunteers specifically for the School of Medicine.

The volunteers that the university received include:
- Dr. Terseer Ako (Civil Engineering (Highway & Transportation Engineering)
- Dr. Emmanuel Ibukunoluwa Moyin-Jesu (Agronomist)
- Prof. Grace Modupe Adebo (Agricultural Extension and Rural Development)
- Dr. Busari Ayobami Adebola (Civil Engineering (Transportation and Highway Engineering)
- Dr. Akintola Oyetayo Lawrence (Agricultural Economist (Agribusiness Development and Finance)
- Dr. Abdulkadir Taofeeq Sholagberu (Civil Engineering (Water Resources & Environmental Engineering)
This is the fourth group of Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers coming to Kabale University under the agreement between the Government of Nigeria and the Government of Uganda. The Technical Aid Corps (TAC) is an international volunteering program that was set up by the Nigerian government in 1987 to serve as a practical demonstration of south-south cooperation and Uganda is one of the countries benefitting from the TAC.
We have played host to several skilled volunteers from Nigeria as a University. Several volunteers have also served in several countries for a period of two years or less. One of the reasons behind this is to share Nigeria’s brimming human resources with other African, Pacific, and Caribbean countries, and to facilitate through service meaningful contact between Nigerian young people and the youth of recipient countries.
Some of the objectives of TAC include sharing Nigeria’s know-how and expertise with other African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries, to give assistance based on the assessed and perceived needs of the recipient countries. Furthermore, to promote cooperation and understanding between Nigeria and the recipient countries. We look forward to hosting the visiting scholars and ensuring that Kabale becomes a good home for them in the next two years as they built this country.
